Sometimes God will shake help your world. In order for us to align with God’s will.

Mid-August God did just that. I hopped on a Microsoft Teams meeting at 8am and within minutes my family’s world was turned upside down. My remote job was going hybrid and the options were relocate to Michigan or resign in 2 weeks.

Needless to say, when the words left her mouth, I was numb. What was I going to do. Obviously moving to Michigan is out of the question. As a wife, mother of 2, and homeowner there was no way I was uprooting my family when I live in a city (Atlanta) that is saturated with jobs.

So, I did what most professionals do, ended my Teams meeting and logged into LinkedIn. Our God is so funny.

God is so faithful.

As soon as I opened LinkedIn there it was a direct message from a recruiter about a hybrid position in Atlanta.

Over the next 2 weeks, I had so many interviews with various companies that I was quite literally overwhelmed from juggling the schedule. I talked to more recruiters over the last month than I have in my entire career.

After contemplating looking for a new position in the prior months I’d passively apply on occasions. But never received any response.

God will show up for you in His timing.

Eventually I started praying to God if it is your will that I move than please confirm it to me.

There were people close to me encouraging me to step out and find a new position. But I decided that I did not want to go back to being led by emotion and culture.

I quite literally will never go back to who I was before I gave my left to Christ again in 2014. That career driven girl who wanted everything that society says you should have. But didn’t have God.

The new me who seeks to serve God, to proclaim the salvation granted through Jesus Christ, and to be led by the Holy Spirit.

God restores all that was stolen.

She landed her dream job, with the company from that original direct message. Not because she more qualified or connected than others. But because the God she serves said this is my will.

The truth is there is nothing wrong with wanting a better life. But I will never seek better over God. It’s not worth it to me.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t get it right all the time. But I do have a process to help keep my desires in check.

How to Align with God’s Will

Always check your motives.

When you need to make a decision. Ask yourself questions to ensure your intentions are pure. Do you want this because you see someone else with it, because the world says you should, or because you believe this is what God has for you.

Pray about it

Prayer will help you to align yourself with God’s will. In your prayers always ask that God’s will prevail over your desires. Ask God to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that you may be guided in His will.

Seek God’s wisdom

Search for biblical truths that are related to your current issues. I also recommend find scriptures to stand on in prayer.
