Let’s be honest, no one else can determine your life purpose for you. What I can tell you for sure, is if you allow others to define your life’s purpose you will never live your life. As children our decisions our guided by our parents and surroundings.
Often times we do what is expected of us and develop our purpose based on what we believe others want for us. Many people do find fulfillment following in their families footstep, while others break loose and run in the other direction.
The reality is I could not have followed my parents footsteps if I tried, and believe me I really did try. I took an alternative route in Healthcare Administration because my Mom is a nurse. Just shy of 3 years I found myself feeling like a caged bird. Especially once I began enjoying my hobby more than I did my job.
Why is life purpose important?
- A GPS without a destination is pointless. A life without purpose is pointless.
- We all have natural talents and abilities, but it’s up to each one of use to develop and utilize them for the betterment of our world.
- Purpose is not solely about one’s career. Purpose is about embarking on a journey of life fulfillment.
- We all want to be fulfilled and happy.
You Compare Yourself
Often times we can’t move towards our purpose because we are focused on someone elses. We all do it, we look at friends or people we admire that appear to be happy or successful. We wonder how they got there, why we aren’t there yet, and sometimes we even think how dare they. When you compare yourself you fail to realize that your life has no correlation with anyone else’s. Your happiness or success is not determined, deterred, or dependent upon anyone else’s success or happiness.
Even though it’s great to stay connected to others. Start reprogramming yourself to see other’s success or happiness as a source of encouragement. All the energy you have must be used toward getting yourself closer to your purpose. Stay connected to what makes you happy and how you can help this world. Focus on creating and finding fulfillment with your own life and achievements.
Your Waiting on your Purpose to Fall on your Lap
Stop waiting on the answer to fall in your lap. There is no magic pill, you have to put the work in. Life just does not work that way. Life purpose is a journey you must experience the trials and errors. Experiment try different things.
Most times even once you find that one thing that you want to do for the rest of your life. There will still be obstacles, you will fall on your face, and you may even feel like giving up at times. But if you keep working at it things will get better. When you find a way to use your purpose to help other’s things get better.
You are Looking for someone else to Give you the Answer
No one can tell you what your life purpose is. I know that sounds harsh but the goal of life coaches, therapist, and content creators is simply to help you think and provide guidance. So if you’re seeking help from a professional and expecting a magic potion. I’m sorry that’s not how it works you have to put the work in. The goal of professions is to help you identify your skills and abilities and guide you towards opportunities based on the information you provide.
If you’re hoping your friends or family will be able to tell you what your life purpose is you are very off base. Although they will have the best of intentions without the proper training, personal experience, and education they can’t assist you. My point is there is no definite answer anyone can provide you with.
You aren’t Taking Action
The obstacle most people face on their life purpose journey is that they fail to act. We have ideas and inklings of what we should be doing but we’re scared to act. Stop waiting on confirmation that your headed in the right direction, if you have an idea then you owe it to yourself to try. Don’t wait so long to act that you miss the opportunity to elevate your journey. No matter where you are in your journey keep moving. Sometimes you have to just get started and work out the details later. Believe me it’s scary to take the leap, but what a beautiful story you will have to share.
Bible Verse on Purpose
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Psalm 57:2 I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.
Psalm 138:8 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.
